Osmania varsity to shift to ‘school system’ soon

Osmania University will soon shift to the school system from the department mode of functioning, on the lines of Central Universities, opening up more opportunities for inter-disciplinary courses.

All the existing department of studies, centres of studies or research would be assigned to the proposed 11 schools of studies like the School of Life Sciences, School of Social Sciences, School of Law, School of Engineering, and so on. This will be a reality by the next academic year with the Deans agreeing to the idea and university making efforts to clear the proposal in the Standing Committee and the Executive Council. Ultimately, the University Act would be amended with the Governor’s consent. More
